Born and raised in Adelaide, sun and the heat is our best friend and very common. We all have a responsibility to help look after the environment. We're proud that our Distribution Centre is powered by Solar Energy which powers everything from computers to strapping machines to electric forklifts.
Water is not so common here in SA but our premises uses recycled water throughout.
The Gala Imports Australia team are environmentally aware, so when packing every order, we ensure we re-use cardboard, or other packaging to ensure we do our bit to reduce new packaging.
We buy recycled/restored pallets to ensure we minimise our footprint.
Within smaller cartons we use Bio-Fill. What’s Bio Fill? 100% Bio-Degradable Void Fill manufactured from natural products in South Australia. Being made from natural Corn and Potato Starch, when immersed in water, the pellets dissolve naturally with no harmful residue. Bio-fill can be disposed of in curb-side rubbish as it completely breaks down.
Our company is also part of Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), which is the organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia.
APCO delivers this model of shared responsibility through the promotion of sustainable packaging activities including circular packaging design, improving collection and recycling systems, expanding markets for used packaging, and circular economy projects.
We continue to do our research to test and trial new methods and new materials to ensure are proactive in helping the environment.
